In Pakistan you will hear honey described as "choti makhi ka shehad" (small-bee honey) or "bari makhi ka shehad" (large-bee honey). These are not separate types of honey like Sidr or Acacia — they refer to which bee species made it, and that shapes the honey's character.
| Feature | Small-bee (choti makhi) | Large-bee (bari makhi) |
|---|---|---|
| Flavour intensity | Strong and concentrated | Milder |
| Moisture | Lower, very thick | Higher, more fluid |
| Yield | Small, rare | Large |
| Price | Premium | More affordable |
| Availability | Seasonal, limited | Regular |
Neither is objectively better — they suit different tastes. If you enjoy intense, rare honey with a story, small-bee honey is the one. If you want an affordable raw honey for daily tea and cooking, large-bee honey (especially single-origin Sidr or Acacia) is a great choice.
It is honey made by smaller honeybees, often wild colonies, known for a strong, concentrated flavour and a thicker, lower-moisture texture.
Generally yes. Small-bee honey tends to be more intense in flavour and thicker because it typically has less moisture.
Because small colonies produce far less honey, it is harder to find and to harvest. Low supply makes it premium.
Our range focuses on raw large-bee honey named by flower source, such as Premium Sidr 1kg, plus natural honeycomb. Contact us if you are after a specific rare harvest.
